Under Indonesia’s halal product assurance rules, micro and small businesses producing food, beverages and their raw or auxiliary materials must be halal certified by 17 October 2026. After the deadline, uncertified products without a “non-halal” label may face administrative sanctions or be withdrawn from sale.
Who needs to apply
- Producers of food, beverages, seasonings and food additives sold in Indonesia;
- Restaurants, central kitchens and slaughtering or processing businesses;
- Importers of food products (foreign certificates must be registered for recognition).
How to apply
Eligible micro and small businesses can use the self-declare route with the help of a halal process facilitator (PPH); the government offers a quota of free certifications every year. Other businesses apply online through BPJPH’s SIHALAL system and are audited on site by a halal inspection agency (LPH).
The secretariat will hold a briefing on halal certification in early October. Members are welcome to register.
